ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to establish three modern sports arenas in Islamabad.
These three sports arenas will be located in D-12/1, G-11/3 Markaz, and F-8 Markaz.
The initiative aims to provide citizens, families, and the youth with easy access to modern sports and recreational facilities throughout the year.
According to the CDA, this move is part of ongoing efforts to promote sports, encourage a healthy and active lifestyle, and provide quality recreational facilities to residents across various areas of the federal capital.
Facilities for various sports and recreational activities will be available at all three locations under an integrated management system, enabling citizens to engage in sports and physical activities year-round.
Approximately 4.2 acres of land have been allocated for the sports arena in D-12/1, while arenas covering approximately 3.5 acres and 3.2 acres will be constructed in G-11/3 Markaz and F-8 Markaz, respectively.
The three sports arenas will feature indoor swimming pools, branded indoor gyms, futsal courts, cricket cages, indoor and outdoor padel courts, basketball facilities, multipurpose sports halls, indoor children’s play areas, health bars, and administrative facilities.
Additionally, landscaping, parking areas, and dedicated tracks will be developed. The establishment of these facilities across various areas will provide citizens with better access to quality sports amenities near their residential and commercial neighborhoods, while offering families and youth opportunities to participate in various sports at professionally planned venues.
These sports arenas will host sports training, coaching, tournaments, leagues, and community-level sporting activities.
Citizens will be encouraged to participate in modern and emerging sports such as padel, futsal, and cricket cage training. These facilities will particularly motivate the youth to engage in regular physical activity and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
CDA Chairman Statement
The CDA Chairman stated that providing modern sports infrastructure is a key component of the CDA’s vision for a healthy, vibrant, and citizen-friendly Islamabad.
Citizens across the city should have access to quality sports facilities, enabling them to fully benefit from sports, fitness, and recreational activities in a modern, safe, and conducive environment.
The CDA will fund these projects from its own resources, while their implementation will be carried out through open competitive bidding in accordance with PPRA rules.
The three sports arena projects will also generate new employment opportunities. The overall project is expected to create approximately 360 jobs during the construction phase and 92 jobs during the operational phase.
