ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The government has taken notice of what it said misleading reports claiming that Tirah Valley is being evacuated on the orders of the Pakistan Army.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in a statement on Saturday said that these claims are baseless, malicious, and made for specific purposes.

“The purpose of these claims is to spread fear and panic among the public, provide misinformation against security agencies, and achieve personal and political interests,” the statement read.

It said no order has been issued by the federal government or the armed forces to evacuate Tirah Valley.

“Law enforcement agencies routinely conduct operations against terrorist elements based solely on intelligence information.”

The ministry said during these intelligence-based operations, full consideration is given to ensuring that the lives of peaceful citizens are not affected.

It further clarified that there is no need for any population migration for these operations, nor is anything of the sort being done.

Locals desire peace in Tirah Valley

It is also noteworthy that the local population itself is expressing concern over the presence of Khawarij and desires peace and stability in Tirah. The Relief, Rehabilitation, and Settlement Department of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government issued a notification on December 26, 2025.

Under this notification, an amount (reportedly Rs4 billion) has been released. This amount has been earmarked in view of the possible, temporary, and voluntary movement of the population from certain areas of Tirah (Bagh), the ministry statement said.

The purpose of this measure is to make advance preparations and provide relief, which includes transport, food supply, cash assistance, and the establishment and management of temporary accommodation and registration centers.

This document suggests that according to the Deputy Commissioner Khyber, this proposed voluntary relocation reflects the opinion and wishes of the local population, which emerged through a representative Jirga held at the district level, the statement said and added seasonal conditions, administrative facilities, and other local factors have been taken into account, and this process will also be carried out without camps.

“Any statement given to the media by the provincial government or any of its officials linking this relocation to the armed forces is absolutely false, fabricated, and malicious,” the ministry clarified and added “Such statements are being made to gain political advantage and, unfortunately, are an attempt to defame security agencies, which is extremely regrettable”.
