MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The assailants of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) stopped an Islamabad Police official, who was returning to duty after spending his leave, and subjected him to torture in Rawalakot.
According to the AJK Police spokesperson, Constable Ehtesham Masih was returning to Rawalakot after spending his leave when he was forcibly removed from a passenger vehicle and tortured near Afsar Market, Goi Nala area.
Moreover, the JAAC rioters forcibly handed over the Indian currency to the cop and also recorded a video. The said video was later used to create a misleading impression against the law enforcement agencies.
The Islamabad Police sources said that after the incident, the JAAC members left the policeman near the Bismillah Hotel, Goi Nala. The policeman left from there and is currently at the Azad Patan Check Post.
The AJK Police, in a statement, said that an investigation is underway regarding the incident. The process of identifying the people who tortured the policeman is underway.
After complete verification of the facts and legal action, action will be taken against those involved in the incident as per the law, police said, adding that no person or group will be allowed to mislead the public and incite against state institutions through violence, force, or fake content.
The spokesperson further said that during the recent tense situation, the police and other law enforcement agencies have demonstrated utmost courtesy and professionalism.
On the other hand, the public circles are expressing the strongest anger and grief over this shocking incident. In their reaction, the public circles have clearly said that the Islamabad policeman being forced to hand over Indian currency and make a video is clear evidence that the miscreants of the Action Committee are related to the Indian intelligence agency ‘RAW’.
Police constable, Rangers personnel martyred
Earlier on Tuesday, the AJK Police said one police constable was martyred, and nine security personnel were injured in clashes with miscreants of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) in Baithak, Sudhanoti district.
The Inspector General of Police spokesperson said that armed individuals allegedly opened fire during a road clearance operation on the Kotli-Tarakhal Road.
Similarly, a Rangers personnel was martyred by armed members of the banned JAAC on Tuesday morning in the general area of the bus terminal in Rawalakot.
According to the AJK police spokesperson, JAAC, having failed to rally public support in recent weeks, resorted to indiscriminate armed firing early morning to blame the security forces.
The police also shared the aerial footage of the activity, where JAAC members can be seen firing in the civilian area.
