ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The State Bank of Pakistan has announced a bank holiday for all public and private banking institutions throughout the nation on the first day of Ramazan.
The State Bank announced that all banking institutions in the country will close their doors to customers on the first day of Ramazan in the year 1447 Hijri because of Zakat deductions.
The announcement states that there will also be no public transactions in development financial institutions and microfinance banks. Bank employees will work their regular schedule at the office on the bank holiday, while employees who handle public transactions will take a day off.
The central meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight the moon of Ramazan will take place in Peshawar today, Wednesday, while zonal committees will conduct their meetings throughout the rest of the country.
