DHAKA (Kashmir English): The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has unveiled a 16-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) with experienced wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das leading the side.
Litton Das will lead Bangladesh in the upcoming Pakistan and UAE tours as he has been formally named the T20I captain, replacing Najmul Hossain Shanto who relinquished the role earlier this year.
Mahedi Hasan, an off-spinner in the side, will serve as vice captain on the Pakistan and UAE tours.
Das had also captained the Bangladesh side in a three-match T20I series against West Indies in December last year when Shanto was unavailable due to an injury.
Overall, Litton Das has served the national side as captain in one Test, seven ODIs and four T20Is.
Das was also a part of Karachi Kings in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 but was ruled out of the tournament after sustaining a finger injury while training.
Shanto is one of the five players who returned to the national side for the upcoming T20I series, along with Towhid Hridoy, Tanvir Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam.
Bangladesh will first tour UAE for two T20Is, scheduled to be played in Sharjah on May 17 and 19.
The team will then head to Pakistan, where they will play a five-match series from May 25 to June 3.
