DUBAI (Kashmir English): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has removed the Bangladesh Cricket team from the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in India and Srilanka.
Scotland will replace the Bangladesh Cricket Team in the mega T20 event, according to a press release from ICC on Saturday.
Bangladesh had refused to play the T20 World Cup matches in India and demanded that their matches be shifted from India to Sri Lanka.
The ICC says that detailed discussions were held on the matter for more than three weeks, contacts were also maintained with the BCB, and their concerns were reviewed in every way.
According to the ICC, all issues were discussed with the BCB, and assurances were also given to the board.
The International Cricket Body said in their statement that “The ICC’s assessments concluded that there was no credible or verifiable security threat to the Bangladesh national team, officials or supporters in India. In light of these findings, and after careful consideration of the broader implications, the ICC determined that it was not appropriate to amend the published event schedule.
The ICC also noted the importance of preserving the integrity and sanctity of the tournament schedule, safeguarding the interests of all participating teams and fans, and avoiding the establishment of precedents that could undermine the neutrality and fairness of ICC events.”
