Budget 2025-26: Federal govt proposes Rs53 billion for Azad Kashmir under development package

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The federal government has proposed to allocate a total of Rs 53 billion for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) under the development package in Budget 2024-25.

As per the Finance Bill 2025-26, the government has allocated a total of Rs 164 billion in the PSDP for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and merged districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Rs.48 billion each have been allocated for Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, and Rs.68 billion for the merged districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

In his budget speech in the national assembly, he further said the federal government has made block allocations of Rs.32 billion for AJK.

PM Special Package for Azad Kashmir

The federal government has further allocated Rs.5 billion for Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Rs.4 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan as Prime Minister’s Special Package.

According to the Finance Minister, Rs.3 billion will be given for five hydropower schemes in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The federal government has proposed to allocate a total of Rs 8 billion for the Danish Schools project in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan for the upcoming financial year 2025-26.
