MIRPUR (Kashmir English): Special Magistrate and Assistant Director of Industry Raja Waseem Afzal checked price control in major business centers within the limits of Police Station City Mirpur.
As per details, Special Magistrate inspected Nafees Bakers, Pakiza and Select & Save Mart, during which a total of Rs 20,000 fines were imposed for overpricing and underweight.
During the price control check in Ramadan, the Special Magistrate fined Nafees Bakers Rs10,000, Pakiza Bakery Rs5,000 and Select & Save Mart Rs5,000 for high selling and not displaying rate lists.
He instructed to display rate lists in the future at appropriate places, and prices should be charged from customers as per the fixed rates.
In another development, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Food Authority Mirpur continued its crackdown in the city against sub-standard food and dairy products.
The Food Authority team, District Mirpur, inspected the pakora, samosa, milk shops, and Bakers in F-1 Road, Fazil Chowk, and Nangi areas.
During the inspection, milk and oil samples were tested on the spot from the mobile food testing laboratory. Food Authority officials destroyed 107 liters of rancid oil on the spot.
Food business operators who did not implement the standing instructions were warned and heavy fines were imposed, the Food Dept press release said.
Food Authority officials warned that no one will be allowed to play with the precious lives of the public.
Officials of Food Authority Division Mirpur, Deputy Director/Food Safety Officer Ijaz Ahmed Qamar, District Food Controller/Food Safety Officer Mirpur Imtiaz Hussain Lal, Divisional Food Analyst Muhammad Jalil, Assistant Food Safety Officer Asif Riaz and supporting staff were also present.
