PARIS (Kashmir English): President International Kashmir Peace Forum (IKPF) France, Zahid Iqbal Hashmi, has said that the atrocities committed by the occupying Indian forces against the people of Jammu and Kashmir will never be forgotten.

Speaking to the media about the latest situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hashmi said that the Indian government’s actions — especially after 2019 — have subjected Kashmiris to unbearable oppression, stripping them of their basic rights one by one.

“These injustices are unforgettable,” he said, adding that the restoration of statehood is essential for the development and welfare of the Kashmiri people.

He noted that 240 million Muslims in India have outrightly rejected the Waqf Bill, as it is in no way in their favour.

“We hope that the Supreme Court will deliver justice to the Muslim community,” he hoped.

Hashmi also highlighted that the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has given a free hand to its forces and intelligence agencies to target unarmed Kashmiris.

Draconian laws in occupied Kashmir

Draconian laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), the Public Safety Act (PSA), and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) have made life unbearable for the people of Kashmir, he added.

Hashmi urged the global community to send a fact-finding mission to the region to assess the grave human rights violations and breaches of international law in Jammu and Kashmir — an internationally recognized disputed territory.
