ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Atlas Honda set to tap the premium motorcycle segment in Pakistan. Atlas Honda revealed plans to potentially introduce 250cc and 500cc motorcycles to the Pakistani market as it assesses the growing demand for higher-displacement bikes.

The announcement was made by Atlas Honda management at the MY26 corporate briefing held with Topline Securities. The rising popularity of premium motorcycles, fueled in part by growing remittances and improved consumer purchasing power, has prompted the company to investigate the possibility of expanding its offerings beyond its well-known commuter models.

The launch of 250cc and 500cc motorcycles would be one of Atlas Honda’s largest product line expansions in decades and would enable the company to compete in the premium segment, which is currently dominated by imported and locally assembled premium motorcycles.

Premium Motorcycles Segment on the Rise:

The motorcycle industry in Pakistan has long been dominated by 70cc and 125cc bikes, but the last few years have witnessed an increase in demand for bikes with engine capacities greater than 150cc as hobbyists and buyers with higher income levels search for more power.

According to Atlas Honda, this trend is expected to continue and offers an opportunity for the company to offer a locally produced or assembled version of the 250cc and 500cc bikes at an affordable price, thereby making the concept of premium bikes more achievable.

The company, however, has not announced a launch timeline or provided information on the Honda global models it might introduce in Pakistan.

Atlas Honda Increasing Production Capacity

In addition to its plans for the premium segment, Atlas Honda has also announced a significant increase in its production capacity.
The company will be raising its annual production capacity from the current 1.65 million motorcycles to 2 million units per year by the end of December 2026 upon completion of its expansion project.

This expansion requires a capital investment of approximately Rs 5-6 billion. Atlas Honda’s management has highlighted that due to strong consumer demand, the company is already exceeding its current production capacity by utilising overtime work and assistance from its extensive vendor network.

Pakistan’s Motorcycle Market Continues its Recovery

Atlas Honda noted that Pakistan’s total two-wheeler market has recovered to roughly 2.3 million units annually, as it reflects the revival of economic activity and an upsurge in consumer spending.

While Chinese motorcycle manufacturers have seen a decline in market share from their peak, motorcycles with an engine displacement of more than 100cc have experienced a rise in popularity, signifying a gradual shift in the preferences of Pakistani consumers towards more powerful options.

This growing preference is attributed by market analysts to increasing disposable income levels, a greater influx of foreign remittances, and a higher demand for leisure and touring bikes.
