DUBAI (Kashmir English): Suranga Wellalage, father of Sri Lankan cricketer Dunith Wellalage, who is representing his nation in the ongoing Asia Cup in the UAE has died in Colombo.
He reportedly died of a heart attack. Dunith Wellalage, aged 22, currently representing Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
He is considered one of the most promising young cricketers in the side.
Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup match against Afghanistan
On Friday, Wellalage played in Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup match against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi.
In the final over, he was hit for five consecutive sixes by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.
