SRINAGAR (Kashmir English): A severe dispute erupted as the Ashoka mark was broken down after being engraved on a plaque of the recently renovated HazratBal Dargah in Indian illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIJOK).

According to the Kashmir Media Service, the chairperson of the occupied Kashmir Waqf Board inaugurated the work of renovation of HazratBal, located on the banks of Lake Dal.

The board installed in the courtyard of the Dargah carried an Ashoka emblem placed on the upper side.

The Kashmiri Muslims who came to the Dargah for Friday prayers yesterday were enraged to see the mark, and they broke the Ashoka emblem

The Kashmiris expressed their anger on the occasion and staged a protest against the making of the Ashoka mark on the plaque..

According to the Kashmir Media Service, National Conference leader Tanveer Sadiq said in a post on X that the move contradicts the basic Islamic faith of Tawheed.

The installation of Ashok’s mark inside the Dargah is unlawful; it falls into the category of sculpting that is against the principles of Islam.

Agha Syed Rohullah Mehdi, a member of the Indian Parliament and senior leader of the National Conference from Srinagar, also condemned the implementation of Ashok’s mark on the Dargah Hazrat Bal and termed it against the principles of Islam.
