AMSTERDAM (Kashmir English): Argentina defeated India 5-3 in the crucial pool match of the second round of the Hockey World Cup, knocking them out of the tournament.

Argentina kept the pressure on the Indian defense from the start of the match. Joaquin Toscani scored in the first minute to give his team the lead, while Nicolas Della Torre scored the second goal from a penalty corner in the sixth minute.

Sukhjit Singh reduced the deficit for India by scoring in the 10th minute, but Argentina kept up the pressure. Tomas Domen scored in the 33rd and 45th minutes to make Argentina’s lead 1-4.

Lucas Toscani scored Argentina’s fifth goal in the 53rd minute. India tried to come back in the last moments; Sukhjit Singh scored his second goal in the 58th minute, while Hardik Singh scored on a penalty stroke in the 59th minute to make the score 3-5, and the Indian team could not escape defeat.

Netherlands has already qualified for the semi-finals from Pool E, while after losing three consecutive matches, the Indian team will now play for the 7th or 8th position in the World Cup.

On the other hand, the Pakistan hockey team has also been eliminated from the World Cup and now the national team will take on South Africa for the 11th or 12th position.
