According to the company, this update addresses several serious security flaws, some of which have already been exploited in real-world attacks.
Along with this, the update also introduces a few minor interface changes.
According to the technology company, a total of 26 security flaws have been fixed in iOS 26.2, including 2 hazardous flaws found in WebKit and the iOS kernel.
The WebKit flaw allowed malicious websites to bypass browser security and execute arbitrary code, while the kernel vulnerability could give attackers system-level access.
Apple has confirmed that some of these vulnerabilities were being used by spyware and malicious apps, including software distributed through sources other than official app stores.
The company has warned that delaying the update could lead to serious risks to user data, privacy, and surveillance.
In addition to security patches, iOS 26.2 further improves AirDrop, introducing one-time sharing codes to avoid unnecessary file requests in crowded places.
Along with this, minor improvements have also been made to the lock screen, including an adaptive clock layout for better readability in dark mode.
Additionally, Apple’s Liquid Glass user interface has also been improved, giving developers more control over visual effects and animations.
Apple has strongly advised users to install iOS 26.2 immediately via Settings > General > Software Update.
According to the company, this update, while closing the doors to ongoing cyber attacks, also makes everyday use more secure and better without affecting the overall iPhone experience.
