MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Anti-Corruption Department, Azad Kashmir, has arrested a Patwari, Zameer Ahmed, after his bail was rejected in a case related to bribery and misuse of authority.
According to a press release issued by the Anti-Corruption Department, a case was registered against Patwari Zameer and Masood Ahmed for bribery of Rs3 lakh and misuse of authority in the Anti-Corruption police station.
As per the details, Anti-Corruption Circle Poonch arrested Masood Ahmed, but Patwari Zameer Ahmed obtained pre-arrest bail from the Anti-Corruption Court Rawalakot to avoid arrest.
However, after the bail was rejected, Zameer Ahmed was arrested and Rs. 1,70,000 was recovered from him.
Further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the alleged corruption, the Anti-Corruption Department said.
Earlier, the Senior Member Board of Revenue has taken notice of irregular and illegal appointments in the Revenue Department (settlement) of Azad Kashmir.
The appointments of two individuals, Ansar Khan and Muhammad Faisal, as permanent Patwaris without proper advertisement and legal procedure have been deemed unlawful.
The Deputy Commissioner of Muzaffarabad appointed the two individuals without following the required rules and regulations. Muhammad Nasr Khan, a resident of Neelum, was appointed, and his domicile was changed to Muzaffarabad, raising serious concerns.
Taking action on irregular appointments, the Senior Member Board of Revenue has instructed the immediate cancellation of the irregular appointments.
