ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Senior analysts have exposed what they called baseless propaganda being promoted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against state institutions.

In a Tv programme, senior analyst Muneeb Farooq criticized PTI for demanding proof that Afghanistan is involved in terrorism in Pakistan. “It is utterly meaningless for any responsible person to demand proof that Afghanistan is involved in terrorism in Pakistan. Historically, the threat of terrorism is clear and well-documented.”

He said after the APS attack in 2014, terrorists came from Afghanistan, were identified, prosecuted, and punished. “Many attackers involved in Benazir Bhutto’s assassination also came from Afghanistan,” Farooq said and added, “Despite these historical facts, demanding proof now is extremely ridiculous.”

The analyst further said if it turns out that the Taliban are indeed responsible for terrorism, then demanding proof at this stage is simply unreasonable.

“Can you tell if the army, Rangers, or Frontier Corps (FC) wish for their children, youth, or soldiers to be martyred? The answer is absolutely not. This is not a hobby or a source of entertainment for them. When they go on operations, they put their lives at risk and do not know if they will return alive or not.”

Another senior analyst Mansoor Ali Khan said anyone can have disagreements with an institution. “In the past, these institutions were involved in elections and political processes to varying degrees, and issues like Imran Khan’s imprisonment are completely separate.”

But it is not correct to say that all other issues become unimportant just because of disagreements, he added.

PTI’s role during May 9 vandalism

“Fundamentally, PTI’s problem is with the existence of the institution. PTI’s role during the May 9 vandalism and the “Ma’arka-e-Haq” (Battle for Truth) is also before you, and the issue with the war on terror also shows that PTI has a problem with everything.”

Khan said Pakistan’s battles can be counted on one’s fingers, and the “Ma’arka-e-Haq” was one of Pakistan’s greatest successes, yet some individuals played roles that were shameful and regrettable.

“What saddens me further is that most of these faces are associated with PTI,” he concluded.
