KARACHI (Kashmir English): Alarm sounded over cancer drugs deemed fake. In Karachi, a major health warning has been issued as 9 cancers have been marketed as fake, substandard, and banned, said Karachi.
Director of the Drug Testing Laboratory Karachi, Mr, Syed Adnan Rizvi, has also given a statement in connection with this, while talking to newsmen, stating that he has taken notice of the report; a further investigation in the matter has also begun, in which many cancer drugs proved not only fake in terms of price but also substandard and illegal.
According to his said statements, the quality investigation has exposed that those cancer drugs which were given in cancer treatment failed on many levels due to a lack of required amounts of ‘Active ingredient’, and a few products also failed DRAP certification.
He blamed that there have also been incidents when some oncologists prescribe for to buy the medicines only from that particular shop; as a result, poor patients get stuck, having no other option.
Health authorities on Tuesday warned the cancer patients that they should be buy medicine from legitimate pharmacy.
