AJK Zakat Department assists free treatment of 1,380 needy patients in FY 2024-25

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Zakat and Ushr Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir paid for free medical treatment of 1,380 poor and needy patients across various hospitals in the region during the financial year 2024-25, according to a press release issued by the department.

The Zakat and Ushr Department said that an amount of Rs 15.97 was spent on the treatment of these patients, averaging Rs 11,500 per person.

The funds were released via cross-check in the name of the heads of respective institutions and were utilized primarily for providing free medicines and medical assistance, it added.

Patients were treated at major hospitals, including District Headquarters Hospitals, AIMS, and CHM.

The patients include 441 patients from Muzaffarabad district, 426 patients from Neelum, 123 patients from Jhelum Valley, 80 patients from Haveli, 45 patients from Poonch, 02 patients from Sudhnoti, 75 patients from Kotli, 113 patients from Mirpur, and 75 patients from Bhimber.

The department affirmed its commitment to continuing support for poor patients in the upcoming financial year as well.
