AJK: Several shops destroyed in massive fire at Dhirkot’s Rangla Bazar

BAGH (Kashmir English): Several shops were burnt to ashes in a massive fire that broke out in the Rangla Bazar of Dhirkot in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) overnight, according to the officials.

According to initial reports, a massive fire broke out suddenly in the market, causing nine shops to burn to ashes overnight.

The fire completely destroyed the shops, leaving behind nothing but charred remains or ashes.

The shopkeepers mostly dealing in mobile phones, fruit and vegetable and grocery suffered a loss of millions of rupees due to the fire.

Dhirkot

Dhirkot is a Tehsil located in Bagh District of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. A road known as Kohala Dhirkot Road passes through the Chamankot area of the tehsil and the route connects Muzaffarabad and Islamabad with the four districts of Azad Kashmir; Bagh, Poonch, Haveli and Sudhnoti.

There was no facility of fire brigade in the area and the locals have had to face difficulty in dousing the fire.

The cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained. The traders have sought compensation from the government and also measures in place to deal with such a situation swiftly in the future.
