AJK Legislative Assembly welcomes Pak-Saudi Defence Agreement

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on Thursday warmly welcomed the recent defence agreement signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.

The assembly passed the resolution presented by AJK Prime Minister Anwarul Haq in the assembly session under the chairmanship of Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar.

The resolution stated that the agreement is expected to add a new chapter in the relations between the two countries and have profound effects on the security of the Islamic world.

“The agreement will play a strong deterrent role against terrorism and promote peace and stability in the region, mutual defence and the integrity of the Islamic world,” it added.

Furthermore, the House also paid tribute to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Suleman for signing the defence agreement with Pakistan.

The resolution also paid tribute to COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his fearless leadership and professional skills.

“Under his leadership, Pakistan not only achieved great successes on the military front against India, but also due to his successful strategy, Pakistan’s prestige has been raised at the global level,” it reads.

“The resolution expects Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to play a role in finding a peaceful and lasting solution to the Kashmir issue in accordance with UN resolutions.”

The defense agreement is expected to play an important role in regional security and the fight against terrorism, the resolution added.
