MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A full court reference was held in the High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Muzaffarabad on the occasion of the retirement of Justice Mian Arif Hussain of the High Court.
The full court reference was presided over by the Chief Justice of AJK High Court Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja. Judges of the High Court, including Justice Syed Shahid Bahar, Justice Muhammad Ejaz Khan, and Justice Chaudhry Khalid Rasheed, participated in the full court reference.
Senior Judge Justice Sardar Liaquat Hussain failed to attend the reference as he was abroad for Umrah.
On this occasion, District and Session Judge Muzaffarabad, District Qazi Muzaffarabad, Advocate General, Members of the Bar Council Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Secretary General of the Supreme Court Bar Association, President of the High Court Bar Association, President and General Secretary of the Central Bar Association, Additional Secretary of Law, Law Officers and a large number of lawyers were also present.
The full court reference was addressed by Chief Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja, Justice Mian Arif Hussain, Justice Syed Shahid Bihar, Registrar High Court Chaudhry Muhammad Fayyaz, Advocate General Sheikh Masood Iqbal, Additional Registrar Riaz Shafi, Secretary General Supreme Court Bar Syed Mehr Ali Bukhari Advocate, President High Court Bar Khalid Rashid Mughal Advocate, and President Central Bar Syed Anisul Hassan Gilani Advocate.
While addressing the full court reference, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja said that we all have come together to bid farewell to Justice Mian Arif Hussain on his retirement from judicial duties after completing 25 years in the judiciary and three years as a Judge of the AJK High Court.
“We are bidding farewell to a good, honest, and hardworking judge after serving in the justice department for a long time.”
Chief Justice added that Justice Mian Arif Hussain was appointed to the High Court on January 8, 2022, along with five other judges, marking a significant day in the history of the judiciary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
“At the time, a large number of cases were pending due to a long delay in appointing judges. However, with the newly appointed judges, including Justice Mian Arif Hussain, working tirelessly to prioritize old cases, they were able to achieve the desired results,” Justice Sadaqat stated.
Paying tribute to the judge, Chief Justice said that Justice Mian Arif embodied the qualities of a good judge, including integrity, fairness, strong nerves, modesty, patience, and humane thinking. “His ability to analyze facts, understand laws, and determine their applicability was exceptional.”
