HAJIRA (Kashmir English): Former minister and member of the Azad Kashmir Assembly, Sardar Amir Altaf Khan, laid the foundation stone of Hajira Bypass that is supposed to ease city traffic.
The ceremony was attended by numerous Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) workers, local dignitaries, political and social figures, and a large number of residents.
Traffic congestion a major issue in Hajira city
Addressing the ceremony, Sardar Amir Altaf Khan said that traffic congestion has been a major issue in Hajira city. The construction of this bypass will significantly reduce traffic pressure and provide convenience for commuters, he hoped.
He added that the project represents an important step toward regional development, improved travel facilities, and the resolution of civic problems.
Sardar Amir Altaf Khan emphasized that PML-N has always prioritized projects for public welfare, and developmental work continues across the constituency, including Hajira.
He also reflected on political realities, stating, “My title now reads ‘former minister,’ which reminds us how quickly times can change. However, it is development projects like these that keep a person remembered and relevant.”
He also addressed critics who recently demanded evidence of mega projects completed during his tenure, responding, if Hajira Bypass, the 8km reconstruction from Hajira to Devi Gali, and the main road construction at Sirardi are not considered mega projects, then what’s a mega project?”
Attendees, including constituency president Sardar Hafeez Khan and Shakeel Awan, welcomed the project and expressed hope that it would be completed soon, providing immediate relief to the public.
Earlier, Sardar Amir Altaf Khan also laid the foundation for the Hajira–Devi Gali Road. Participants thanked him and extended their best wishes for further regional development.
