MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): A high-level meeting chaired by Minister for Finance, Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, reviewed the implementation of cabinet decisions and the progress on the agreement reached between the government and the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC).
The meeting was attended by the Secretaries of Law, Electricity, Services, Higher Education, Information, and other senior officials.
It was decided that all FIRs registered during recent events against JAAC leaders and supporters would be withdrawn. Individuals requiring Character Certificates will be issued the necessary documents without delay.
Furthermore, the meeting also agreed that one member from the family of each martyr will be provided a government job.
“Compensation of Rs 1 million will be given to the injured, while the families of martyrs will receive Rs 10 million. Additionally, all property taxes will be aligned with rates in Punjab,” the statement said.
The meeting decided to complete the Greater Water Supply Schemes immediately, and the decision taken by the High Court regarding open merit will be implemented.
Moreover, the meeting agreed that all pending matters related to electricity will be resolved immediately, and a report will be submitted as soon as possible.
In the meeting, it was decided that education boards will be established in Poonch and Muzaffarabad, but assets will not be transferred from the Mirpur board.
“The controversial transfers of female teachers issued by the Kotli DEO office will be canceled immediately. Immediate action will be taken on the health card,” the statement said.
The Finance Minister directed that the latest MRI machines be purchased, and the Law and Electricity Department should immediately resolve the issues related to the ejections on Hydel and submit a report.
It was directed that the matter be presented in the Cabinet meeting to increase the quota of disabled persons from one to 5%.
He directed that the committee formed for the Code of Conduct of the Students’ Union should immediately submit its report. “Effective follow-up should be taken at the judicial level regarding the restoration of the Local Government ACT, 1990,” it added.
