MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has notified an increase in pension and ad-hoc relief allowance for all its civil employees, including contract employees, effective from July 1, 2025.

The notification issued by the Finance Department stated that a 7 per cent increase in pension will be granted to all civil pensioners, including army pensioners drawing pension from Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

“The increase in pension will also be admissible to pensioners who would retire on or after July 1, 2025,” the notification added.

Furthermore, it added that the hike in increase will also be admissible on family pension, compassionate allowance, and extraordinary pension.

“The increase in pension will not be admissible on Special Additional Pension allowed in lieu of pre-retirement orderly allowance and salary of a driver or an orderly sanctioned from time to time,” the department said.

In a separate notification, the finance department notified a 10 per cent increase in ad-hoc relief allowance, applicable for all civil employees of the AJK government, including contract employees, in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 1 through 22.

The notification added that the hike will be subject to income tax, and it will be admissible during leave and the entire period of Leave Preparatory to Retirement (LPR), except during extraordinary leave. It will not be admissible to employees during their posting/deputation abroad.

The increase will not be treated as part of emoluments for the calculation of pension/gratuity and recovery of house rent, it stated.

The notification further added that the Adhoc Relief Allowance will be accommodated from within the budgetary allocation for the FY 2025-26 by the respective secretariats/departments, and no supplementary grants will be provided.
