MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has cancelled the weekend holidays of all those departments providing “essential services” until further orders amid the rising escalation between Pakistan and India along the Line of Control (LoC).
The circular issued on Friday stated that “weekend holidays (Saturday & Sunday) of the departments, declared as essential services under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Essential Services (Maintenance) Act, 2016, are canceled with immediate effect and until further orders.”
The departments include the Energy & Water Resources Department, Civil Defence, Transport Department, Food Department, Finance Department, Inland Revenue Department, and Services & General Administration Department.
In addition to that, the Divisional and District Administration of the Management and Revenue Department, the Police force and agencies under the Home Department, the Power Generation and Electricity Distribution Department, and the Public Health Engineering will also come under the order.
Other departments include;
Health and Preventive Health Care, including Primary and Secondary Health Services
Local Council Services under the Local Government & Rural Development Department
State Disaster Management Authority and Rescue Services
Physical Planning & Housing Department
Communications and Works Department
Population Welfare Department, with the addition that Doctors and Paramedical staff of the department shall remain at the disposal of the Health Department during this period, the circular added.
