MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has issued strict directives to the police regarding the deportation of illegal Afghan nationals from the region.

According to an official circular from the Central Police Office (CPO) Muzaffarabad, a deadline of November 18, 2025, has been fixed for the deportation process. Afghan nationals residing illegally in AJK after this date will be deported to Afghanistan.

The directive, signed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Azad Kashmir, instructs all SPs and SSPs across districts to ensure the immediate identification and deportation of illegal Afghan residents in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued earlier.

The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Special Branch and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) have also been directed to assist in the identification and monitoring of Afghan nationals living illegally within AJK. All district police officers are required to prepare complete reports and coordinate the deportation process under the supervision of their respective SPs and SSPs.

The circular further mandates that any Afghan nationals found residing in AJK beyond the set deadline will be arrested and deported under police supervision. SHO-level officers have been instructed to ensure the implementation of the order at the local level, while daily progress reports must be sent to the In-Charge of IFRP at the CPO.

The IGP emphasized that failure to comply with these directives will result in disciplinary action against the responsible officers.
