AJK Elections: 852 candidates enter the arena in 45 constituencies

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has released the final list of candidates for the Legislative Assembly general elections 2026 scheduled to be held on July 27.

Following the final list of candidates published, electoral activities across the state have reached their peak.

According to the final list, a total of 852 candidates have entered the political field from 45 electoral constituencies of Azad Kashmir, while more than 320 candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers.

According to the detailed data released by the Election Commission, 98 candidates from 4 constituencies of Mirpur, 63 from 3 constituencies of Bhimber, and 135 candidates from 6 constituencies of Kotli are participating in the elections.

Similarly, 83 candidates from 3 constituencies of Bagh and Haveli, 126 from 7 constituencies of Poonch and Sudhnoti, 51 from 2 constituencies of Neelum district, 126 from 5 constituencies of Muzaffarabad district, and 34 candidates from Jhelum Valley district are set for the electoral battle.

According to the Election Commission, official election symbols have been allotted to 24 registered political parties participating in the election.

On the other hand, election symbols will also be issued to independent candidates soon, after which the election campaign will gain further momentum.
