MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Azad Kashmir Elementary & Secondary Education Department has introduced a new rule requiring students to produce their 8th-grade result card for admission to 9th grade.
This decision, taken during the Private Educational Institutions Registering Authority (PEIRA) meeting, aligns with the District Elementary Board’s regulations, aims to ensure that students meet the necessary academic requirements before progressing to higher grades.
According to the notification issued on May 5, all educational institutions have been directed to register students in Class 9 who submit their Class 8 result card issued by the concerned District Elementary Board.
Educational institutions will be required to adhere to this rule, and those failing to comply may face consequences, it reads.
It further clarified that under section (2), 11 sub-sections (1) and (ii) of the “The Board of District Elementary Education Azad Jammu and Kashmir 2014”, the 8th grade examination is the jurisdiction of the concerned board, therefore there is no scope for violation of the regulations.
As per details, the PEIRA meeting, chaired by Syed Saleem Gardezi on February 20, 2025, discussed concerns about private institutions admitting students without proper documentation, which is clearly against the rules.
