MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution, seeking the Government of Pakistan to take immediate steps for the safe recovery of women, who inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Kotli’s Nakial sector.
During the session of assembly chaired by Speaker Latif Akbar, the resolution, presented by the Minister for Food and AJK TEVTA Javed Iqbal Badhanvi, stated that a 25-year-old mentally unstable woman, Mehnaz, from the border village of Mohra Bhuel in the Ceasefire Line, Nakial Sector, accidentally crossed the ceasefire line on December 15.
It was reported by the Indian media that she is currently in the custody of Indian forces in occupied Kashmir, the resolution said, adding that her family is undergoing severe mental distress and anxiety and demanded that the Government of Pakistan take immediate steps for her safe recovery.
In another resolution, tabled by MLA Sardar Hassan Ibrahim, said that this session of the Legislative Assembly strongly condemns the state terrorism and serious human rights violations by the Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
“Large-scale atrocities are being carried out by the Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and along with this, systematic oppression and repression are also being carried out. The Indian Army has intensified siege and house-to-house search operations in several areas of Jammu, including Khatwa, Samba, Udhampur, Keshwar, and Poonch,” it added.
“Joint teams of the Indian Army, Police, Border Security Force, and Central Reserve Police are also beating up the common people in the name of an extensive search on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway, towns, and villages, due to which, daily life is badly affected.”
Moreover, the House strongly condemned the oppressive actions of India and reiterated its resolve that the struggle of the Kashmiris will continue until the occupied Jammu and Kashmir gains independence from India and the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is annexed to Pakistan through a plebiscite.
The resolution further added that this House also demands the Government of Pakistan to fulfill its responsibilities to highlight the Kashmir issue at the global level and play its full role in exposing India’s nefarious intentions before the world.
Another resolution moved by Member of Assembly Sardar Hassan Ibrahim said that this meeting strongly condemns the martyrdom of Usman Hadi and Muhammad Talib in Bangladesh.
