MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Anti-Corruption Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has started a probe against officers of the Highways Department of Neelum District for the alleged embezzlement.
As per details, the investigation was initiated after a complaint filed by contractor Sadiq Hussain, who alleged that the Highways Department officials embezzled Rs 14 million through fake bills.
An investigation committee headed by Director Anti-Corruption Saleem Durrani has been formed to probe allegations and tasked with submitting a report within a month.
Sadiq Hussain, the contractor, claimed that PWD Neelum District officials created fake and self-made bills to embezzle funds from the contract for the drainage project of Phalawi Tadna Road.
Following the plea from the contractor, the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Establishment, Badar Munir, appointed Saleem Durrani, Superintendent of Police, Anti-Corruption Muzaffarabad, as the investigation officer.
The investigation committee is expected to be completed under the Anti-Corruption Act within a month, and a report will be submitted accordingly.
