SIALKOT (Kashmir English): A report circulating online that Qatar Airways flight QR-630 landed at Jammu Airport in IIOJK has been exposed as fake, with airport officials confirming the flight landed safely in Sialkot.
On September 28, a local news channel posted breaking news that a flight from Doha to Sialkot had reached Jammu Airport. The information about this flight belongs to Qatar Airways flight QR-630 and an inquiry began regarding the news.
As per the preliminary oral information received directly from Sialkot Airport, there is no such development and the plane has not landed at Jammu Airport.
Officials informed that the map which is being displayed in the reports appears to have fetched incorrect information about the flight’s actual landing path. The anomaly was supposed to be related to GPS spoofing, which is a common problem at Sialkot Airport due to its location close to the eastern border.
The official sources of Sialkot Airport said that flight QR-630 has completed its route and landed at Sialkot Airport on September 27, and there are no incidents about the flight post-arrival.
The clarifications came in the wake of Jammu Airport news that was spreading and raised questions about the flight-tracking information stated in the initial report.
Data Control officials at Sialkot Airport also informed the relevant forum that detailed information is being sent to the Directorate of Operations (DOPS) at Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) for record keeping
