GILGIT (Kashmir English): Preparations are underway for a visit by Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili community, prompting a large-scale mobilisation of federal and regional resources in the region.

Prince Rahim will be accorded the status of a state guest as he visits Gilgit-Baltistan areas, attends public gatherings, and addresses different ceremonies.

Large gatherings are expected in the Passu Cones area of Hunza; Gilgit City, Gahkuch Bala, and Taus Yasin.

The administration is considering holding multiple sessions at certain venues to manage the expected crowds, according to officials.

The federal government would provide a bulletproof vehicle for security and travel. Recommendations were also made to immediately open Babusar Road as an alternative route and to keep the National Highway Authority on alert at sensitive points.

Local police and the Frontier Works Organisation have been assigned special responsibilities to ensure smooth traffic flow, and security on the Karakoram Highway from Nasirabad Bridge to Sost Dry Port and road improvement.

Directions have also been issued to ensure an uninterrupted power supply in Upper Hunza and adjoining areas during the visit.

The administration is arranging extra transport for visitors and a special relaxation in travel timings to facilitate movement.
