KABUL (Kashmir English): Journalist Sami Yusufzai has raised concerns over what he described as growing restrictions on Afghan citizens’ access to international travel, visas, education and medical treatment.
In a statement shared on social media, Yusufzai claimed that Afghans are facing increasing difficulties obtaining visas and travelling to countries including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Iran, India, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkey.
He questioned where Afghans can now travel for tourism, education or medical treatment amid what he described as increasingly restrictive visa policies.
Yusufzai said ordinary Afghans should not be collectively viewed through the lens of the Taliban and warned that Afghanistan’s isolation could further limit its citizens’ ability to interact with the international community.
“Afghanistan is a part of the world, it is not a slave or an island,” Yusufzai said, emphasizing that Afghans have the right to communicate, travel, study and work with people around the world.
He called for Afghans to be treated separately from the Taliban and urged the international community to ensure that ordinary Afghan citizens do not bear the consequences of political developments in their country.
