Aerial firing, one-wheeling banned on Eid-ul-Fitr in Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The District administration Muzaffarabad has banned aerial firing, the display of weapons, one-wheeling, and drag racing in the district ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr 2025.

According to the order issued by District Magistrate Mudasaar Farooq on Thursday, the ban will remain in force for a period of 09 days.

“Action under Section 188-APC will be initiated against the person(s) found violating this order,” the order read.

The order mentioned the concerns raised by competent authorities regarding the display of weapons and aerial firing during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and especially on the eve of Eid [Chand Raat], which is “likely to cause loss of precious human lives as well as other financial losses.”

“In addition, young boys participate in deadly activities like one-wheeling and often lose their lives or cause physical and financial losses to themselves and others for the sake of showing off. It is very important to prevent both the above-mentioned negative activities,” the order read.

Consdering the request from concerned authorities, the District Magistrate Muzaffarabad, exercising the powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, imposed a ban on such activities.

“This order will be publicized by the concerned police and will also be published in the official gazette,” it added.

Earlier, the District Magistrate imposed a ban on kite flying across Muzaffarabad district under Section 144 for two months

According to the notification, “the ban, imposed under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), prohibits the sale and purchase of kites, making of strings, metal strings, and kites within the limits of Muzaffarabad district.”

“In the future, no person/persons shall be allowed to do so. Any person found violating the ban will face action under Section APC-188,” it read.
