BANNU (Kashmir English): In a groundbreaking move, the abducted KP police officer Abid Wazir, who was kidnapped from the Mamand Khel area of Bannu, has been rescued and reached home safely, according to sources.

Initial reports said that Abid Wazir, a senior police officer and former SHO of Wazir Police Station, was kidnapped along with his vehicle from the People Daud Shah area. The sources claimed that the abduction was by militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

This kidnapping incident has sent shockwaves throughout the country and brought the collapsing law-and-order situation to the fore in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where several security-related incidents have raised a question mark over the ability of the provincial government to ensure the safety of its public.

The local administration has not officially declared the details of the rescue operation yet, but the sources verify that the officer has reached home safely and is in a stable condition.

The incident has revived demands for more stringent anti-terrorism mechanisms and fresh policing strategies in the region.
