RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Azad Pattan Bridge, which connects Punjab with Azad Kashmir, was opened after local residents staged a brief demonstration, closing the bridge.

Deputy Commissioner Sudhanoti Syed Mumtaz Kazmi said that the bridge has been opened for traffic following the successful negotiations with locals.

The closure of Azad Kashmir’s key entry point caused significant disruptions to traffic, leaving travelers frustrated and humiliated in the scorching heat.

According to the sources, the protest demonstration was led by Shaukat Sati, councilor of Union Council Narh of Kahuta, against the Azad Pattan checkpost police, which intercepted a vehicle suspected of smuggling wood.

The blockade caused difficulties for travelers, who were struggling to navigate the closed roads. With the road to and from Kashmir cut off, people are facing significant challenges in accessing essential services and going about their daily lives.
