MIRPUR (Kashmir English): The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has so far integrated 25 Mirpur outlets of national and international brands in the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
Commissioner Inland Revenue Department AJK (South), Syed Ansar Ali said that in view of the ongoing drive to ensure implementation of the recently launched latest digital POS system for realisation of sales tax simultaneously with the sale of the products by the outlets, the IRD sealed OPTP Mirpur Fast Food outlet of international chain for alleged violation of Sales Tax POS law provisions.

Syed Ansar Ali said that the International food chain Domino’s Mirpur outlet, which was earlier sealed for violation of the POS law, has been de-sealed.
Elaborating, the IRD Commissioner (South) said that the OPTP was not going on POS despite hot pursuit to integrate with AJK POS system.
“The outlet of Subway had also the identical status”, he underlined adding that a week-long time was given to both but they failed to integrate despite giving further time for integration”.
Syed Anser Ali said that a total of 25 brands out of total of 55 have so far been integrated with AJK POS system since its launching in mid of February this year.
The Commissioner said that the Inland Revenue Department was determined to increase the state revenue through bringing maximum of the entrepreneurs in the tax net.
He said “POS Task Force use to monitor the POS’ implementation round the clock through surprise visits, checking of invoices from customers so that if any violation of POS procedure detected by any brand, action be taken accordingly”.
It may be mentioned here that the POS task force formulated by CIR South consists of 6-8 Inspectors, IT experts of AJK IRD MIS wing officers and excise constables.
It may also be mentioned here that a WhatsApp group has also been formed by the higher IRD authorities for monitoring the activities of task force by CIR.
