NEELUM VALLEY (Kashmir English): Incessant rains and snowfall in Neelum Valley have destroyed the communication system in the valley, causing significant disruptions in the valley’s internet and mobile services.
Damaged mobile networks, internet services, and electricity systems have put the valley under complete siege, isolating it from the rest of the world.
The ruthless snowfall has blocked the valley’s main roads and highways stranding hundreds of residents.
The heavy snow in the upper areas of Neelum Valley has blocked the main road leading from Jandersiri to Taubat as people cannot travel anywhere and are confined to their homes because of travel restrictions.
The extended road closures have resulted in significant suffering to the residents as businesses, education, and health care have been adversely affected by the disruption in the internet and mobile services.
The residents have urged the authorities to take immediate action and restore internet services and clear the blocked roads which would ease their sufferings.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the harsh weather in Azad Kashmir including heavy rains and snowfall will continue for the next few days adding to the sufferings of the residents.
