Azad Kashmir Supreme Court hosts tree plantation drive

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Chief Justice of AJK, Raja Saeed Akram Khan, launched a tree plantation drive at the Supreme Court in Muzaffarabad today on Thursday to promote environmental conservation in collaboration with the Agriculture and Forest Departments.

Chief Justice of  Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan, formally inaugurated the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign by planting a sapling in the premises of the Supreme Court. A joint operation between the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Forests organizes the environmental initiative to support sustainability and forest growth in the area.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was joined by Senior Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Khawaja Muhammad Naseem and Supreme Court Judge Justice Raza Ali Khan as they took part in the initiative to demonstrate the importance of forestation practices in AJK.

Several key officials and dignitaries were present at the launch, including Supreme Court Registrar Mazhar Iqbal, Secretary of Agriculture Chaudhry Imtiaz Ahmed, Secretary of Forests Ansar Yaqub Khan, Assistant Registrar of the Supreme Court Nisar Shaheen, Secretary General of the Supreme Court Bar Association Syed Mehr Ali Shah, and former President of the Supreme Court Bar, Advocate Raja Sajjad Ahmed Khan.

During his address at the tree plantation drive Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan explained how tree planting plays a critical role in fighting climate change while maintaining the natural appeal of the region. He explained how environmental problems in AJK continue to grow before stating the dual duty of government entities and residents to join forestry initiatives.

The Chief Justice commended the Agriculture and Forest departments’ organizing of the tree plantation events while urging more initiatives to spread green growth across the entire region of AJK. The Chief Justice recommended tree planting campaigns to all citizens since these activities serve as essential tools for creating a long-lasting sustainable environment.

The event initiated a regional Spring Tree Plantation Campaign thataims to support extensive tree-planting operations throughout the following weeks. The initiative follows wider initiatives to prevent forest loss while simultaneously improving air quality and ecologic stability in AJK.

The representatives who attended the event renewed their dedication to environmental preservation by promising backing for future environmental projects.
