LEEPA VALLEY (Kashmir English): The Reshian-Moji Road in Leepa Valley was reopened early this morning after Pakistan Army and Highways Department cleared heavy snowfall and landslides, restoring connectivity for residents.
Leepa Valley’s very important Reshian-Moji Road, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), which links the region to the rest of the country, has been reopened for traffic after hours of tireless struggles by the Highways Department and the Pakistan Army. The road was officially cleared and made available at 3:45am after an extensive fatiguing operation to remove blockages caused by heavy snowfall and landslides in the area.
The road had become impassable when it got blocked due to the harsh snowy conditions. It resulted in cutting off the valley from basic supplies and movement. The Highways Department personnel and Pakistan Army soldiers worked tirelessly to restore connectivity and make the road passable again. Their dedication became evident during their work under harsh conditions by continuously clearing the road with energetic actions.
To operate the team, heavy machinery alongside sufficient human labor to remove snow and clear away damaged materials was needed. Multiple teams operated during all hours to eliminate road obstruction. The teams endured dangerous conditions throughout the recovery process because they worked in areas that faced both severe temperature fluctuations and additional landslide risks. Nevertheless, they managed to restore access to the road.
Residents together with visitors can now commute safely after the Reshian-Moji Road restoration. The tourists who got stuck can now ensure a safe return to their home and normal life. The locals can now go back to their regular lives. The reopening is expected to ease the transport of essential goods, including food and medical supplies, which had been disrupted due to the closure. If the closure had continued, it could have isolated the Valley from the rest of the country for a significant amount of time, which fortunately was prevented.
The people of the region have expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Army and the Highways Department for their quick and dedicated response. The local population commended both the time-sensitive removal of the snow and the hard work that went into it.
The successful unblocking of Reshian-Moji Road is crucial since the residents depend on the road to travel and connect with the people. The authorities plan to keep a cautious outlook on upcoming problems while maintaining stable transport and connectivity conditions for valley inhabitants.
