MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): In a groundbreaking move, the government of Azad Kashmir has launched the first-ever mobile feed testing laboratory in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
This initiative has been envisaged to set high standards for food safety and quality, with strict punishments to be meted out to anyone who markets unsafe products.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhary Anwarul Huq stated that a Punjab-style food testing laboratory will also be established in Azad Kashmir soon.
Civil society petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against chemical-tainted milk, defective food oil, and spices for 9 years, after which the government has decided to establish food testing laboratories on a mobile and permanent basis to test food items.
Initially, three mobile testing laboratories have been introduced today. The AJK PM has reaffirmed that strict action will be taken against the violators.
‘Those who sell unsafe food items will be punished for 7 years instead of three years if proven”, Chaudhary Anwarul Huq added while speaking at the occasion.
