MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, the district administration Muzaffarabad has started vigorous measures to keep the prices of food items moderate and prevent hoarding.

Chairman Price Control Committee Syed Imran Abbas said that a comprehensive strategy has been formulated two weeks ago to keep prices under control.

“During the month of Ramadan, to keep the prices of food items moderate, to prevent illegal profiteering, hoarding and overselling, control room complaint cells have been established in the offices of the Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Municipal Corporation Muzaffarabad and Food Authority Muzaffarabad,” the Deputy Commissioner Office said in a circular.

Magistrates have been appointed in each area to monitor the prices in the markets.

In addition, a control room has been established for the immediate redressal of public complaints, where citizens can file complaints of inflation or any illegal profiteering.

According to the chairman, if any complaint was not addressed within 24 hours, strict action will be taken against the concerned magistrate.

The district administration has appealed to the public to cooperate against artificial inflation during Ramadan and report any violation immediately so that timely action can be taken.
