MALE (Kashmir English): Pakistan outclassed Afghanistan for the second time in the tournament to win the final of the Diamond Jubilee International Football Tournament at the National Football Stadium in Male, Maldives, on Wednesday.

The victory earned Pakistan its first senior men’s international final win in 35 years and its third title in history.

It also marked Green Shirts’ first standalone tournament title since 1952, when they shared the title with India in the Asian Quadrangular Football Tournament.

Earlier, Pakistan had secured the gold medal in the 1991 South Asian Games, where they defeated the Maldives 2-0.

The Green Shirts made a spirited start to the clash, with a goal in the 24th minute when forward Shayak Dost scored a sensational goal through a bicycle kick after midfielder Otis Khan.
