PM Shehbaz urges all sides in Middle East to ‘exercise restraint’

ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed concern over the recent surge in violence in the Middle East, urging all sides to “exercise restraint and give peace a little more chance”.

The statement came after a new round of hostilities between Iran and Israel following Israel’s strikes on the southern suburbs of Lebanon’s capital and explosions reported in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan.

Earlier today, Iran’s armed forces announced the end of military operations against Israel but warned of a more crushing response if it resumes strikes on Lebanon or its territory.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “The recent surge in violence in the Middle East is a stark reminder of the dangers associated with a tenuous ceasefire and the unbearable consequences it may lead to.”

“As we work earnestly and painstakingly, together with our brothers and partners, to find a peaceful diplomatic solution to the conflict, and especially when the final objective is just about to be achieved, we sincerely urge all sides to exercise restraint and give peace a little more chance,” he wrote.

In a statement, Pakistan said the latest developments serve as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with an unstable ceasefire and the devastating consequences that renewed conflict could bring to the region.

The premier added, “Let us continue to remain on the path of peace and diplomacy, which have bright prospects of success instead of violence and destruction.”
