MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The government vehicle, which was being illegally retained by former minister and Assembly Member Javed Butt, was recovered by Assistant Commissioner Muzaffarabad, Hammad Bashir on Wednesday.
Assembly Member Javed Butt kept saying on social media throughout Wednesday that the vehicle was kept for the sake of Allah, upon which the district administration took action, seized the vehicle, and sent it to the central pool.
According to a video available on social media, the driver of the member assembly was asked to leave the car and the car keys were taken out. The vehicle was later deposited to the transport pool.
Sources claimed that Javed Butt continued to use the said government vehicle even after October 4, 2025. According to close sources of Javed Butt, he wanted to deposit the vehicle anyway after the assembly session tomorrow.
It is worth noting that earlier in the day, Assembly Member Javed Butt had said that he was a poor man and had kept the vehicle for the sake of Allah.
He had said that the Azad Kashmir government is not doing any favour by giving funds to the refugee assembly members, because this amount is provided by the Government of Pakistan for refugees.
Javed Butt on refugee seats
Javed Butt said that the seats for refugees are a symbol of their constitutional and democratic rights, therefore they cannot be abolished under any circumstances.
It is worth noting that some time ago Khawaja Farooq had questioned Javed Butt, to which he had said that the vehicle was being forcibly retained, and also gestured with a weapon, but later Javed Butt said that he had said it in jest.
