Six killed as Rawalpindi-bound car meets accident in Lower Kohistan

GILGIT (Kashmir English): A car traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi met an accident in the Teris Bandah area within the limits of Pattan Police Station, Lower Kohistan, resulting in the death of six people.

The vehicle fell into a deep ravine on the Karakoram Highway. According to the police, the motor car traveling from Gilgit to Rawalpindi met an accident within the limits of Pattan Police Station.

Upon receiving information about the incident, SHO Pattan, police personnel, and Rescue 1122 teams immediately reached the spot and started a rescue operation with the help of local people.

Rescue teams faced severe difficulties due to the rugged terrain. The bodies have been recovered and shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pattan.

Four of the deceased have been identified as Suleman Khan from Muzaffarabad, Muhammad Shaban, Imran, and Daniyal from Khanewal, while efforts are underway to identify the other two individuals.

A fatal crash occurred on June 1, 2026, which killed seven people when a tourist jeep plunged into a ravine en route to Fairy Meadows.

The vehicle veered off the treacherous Tattu Raikot Road in the Diamer district and was swept away by the Tattu Nullah stream.
