RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Pakistan achieved a historic milestone on Saturday, June 30, by playing their 1,000th One-Day International (ODI) match.
The landmark match was the opening fixture of a three-match series against Australia at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
With this milestone, Pakistan became only the third nation in cricket history to breach the 1,000-ODI mark.
The Green Shirts follow India and Australia into this elite club.
The all-time leading teams by ODIs played include India (1,075 matches, Australia (1,020 matches) and Pakistan (1,000 matches).
Pakistan’s long journey in the format originally began over five decades ago on 11 February 1973, when they played their inaugural ODI match against New Zealand in Christchurch.

Pakistan secured victory in 527 ODI games, while they suffered defeat in 442 matches.
Pakistan have faced Sri Lanka in 160 ODI matches, the highest number of encounters against any opposition in the red-ball format.
