KARACHI (Kashmir English): The government of Sindh has announced the latest phase of its Pink Scooty Scheme aimed at improving mobility and transport accessibility for women across the province.
According to a statement issued by the Sindh Information Department, pink electric scooties will be distributed in Hyderabad on May 22 under the provincial government’s women-focused transport initiative.
Senior Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon described the project as a “revolutionary initiative,” saying it is helping empower female students and working women by providing safer and more independent travel options.
The scheme has been introduced to offer women affordable, environmentally friendly, and secure transportation. As part of the programme, beneficiaries will also receive driving training, helmets, and road safety awareness sessions.
Officials said the initiative is being gradually expanded to other cities across Sindh as part of broader transport modernisation efforts.
The provincial government is also continuing work on related transport projects, including electric buses and expansion of the Peoples Bus Service network across the province.
Meanwhile, the Sindh government has warned the public against fake social media messages circulating in the name of the Pink Scooty Scheme.
According to the official spokesperson, claims suggesting citizens must register and make payments to receive scooties are false and misleading.
Officials clarified that the Pink Scooty Scheme is a government welfare initiative intended to support women and urged citizens to rely only on official sources for information.
