NEELUM (Kashmir English): The Azad Kashmir Civil Defense Department on Monday recovered a suspected bomb along the Neelum River and shifted it to a safe place in AJK’s Neelum district.
According to the Civil Defense Department, the Bomb Disposal squad took timely action and recovered the bomb lying on the banks of the river.
Bomb Disposal Commander (Rtd) Subedar Chaudhry Muhammad Ashraf, along with his team, responded immediately after the identification of the bomb by citizens.
On the instructions of Assistant Director Khawaja Khalid Mahmood, they acted quickly and averted the possible danger, thereby keeping the citizens safe from any untoward incident, the statement from the Civil Defense Department said.
“The Civil Defense Department plays a key role in protecting the lives and property of the people in any emergency, natural disasters, accidents, and war situations,” it stated.
“Trained staff perform important duties like bomb disposal, rescue operations, first aid, and public awareness through modern skills.”
The public circles appreciated this timely action of Civil Defense and said that such institutions are the backbone of society.
The department appealed to citizens to immediately inform the relevant institutions in case of any suspicious objects or danger so that timely measures can be taken to ensure the protection of precious lives.
