PSL 11: Multan Sultans defeat Karachi Kings by 11 runs

KARACHI (Kashmir English): In the 28th match of HBL Pakistan Super League 11 (PSL 11), Multan Sultans defeated Karachi Kings by 11 runs here on Sunday.

The match was played at the National Stadium Karachi. The Kings batters put up a strong show in pursuit of the Sultans’ big score of 207 runs, but they lost the momentum close to victory.

The Karachi Kings team returned to the pavilion with 196 runs, which included 49 runs from Reeza Hendricks and 34 runs from Abbas Afridi, while Arafat Minhas was the most successful bowler for the Sultans who took 3 wickets for 32 runs.

Earlier, Multan Sultans scored 207 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Sultans had a disappointing start when Khushdil Shah dismissed Steve Smith for a duck on the third ball of the second over, giving Karachi Kings a big success.

After that, Owais Zafar and Josh Philippe stabilized the innings and took the team’s score above 50.

They developed a 66-run partnership for the second wicket, however, Khushdil Shah sent Josh Philippe back to the pavilion, who played an excellent innings of 44 runs off 23 balls.

After that Shan Masood supported Owais Zafar, taking the team’s score above 100. Khushdil Shah maintained his excellent form and also dismissed Owais Zafar, who scored 36 runs.

In the very next over, Moeen Ali dismissed Shan Masood for 46 runs, further strengthening his grip on the match.

In the last over, Mohammad Imran displayed explosive batting, hitting two fours and two sixes to take the team’s score above 200. He remained not out with 26 runs off 8 balls, while Mohammad Wasim scored 7 runs.

For Karachi Kings, Khushdil Shah was the prominent bowler with 3 wickets for 35 runs.

This win marked the fourth consecutive defeat for the Karachi Kings in the 11th edition of the tournament, while the Sultans reached 10 points on the points table. Arafat Minhas was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance.
